The Ambassador

An Ambassador is a volunteer representative of Promise Keepers that communicates the mission and vision of Promise Keepers to churches in his community. His primary role is to serve as a resource and encouragement to men’s ministry leaders (and/or pastors) in the development of effective men’s ministries. The Ambassador will focus on a number of churches in his community, and will serve as the primary information link between the church and Promise Keepers.

Profile of An Ambassador

An Ambassador is a volunteer growing in faith by disciplined study of God’s word and dependence upon the Holy Spirit in all that he does. He is in the process of becoming a man of integrity and is breaking down the walls that have separated and undermined unity in the body of Christ. An Ambassador must recognize the need for supportive relationships and must be willing to commit himself to other men for counsel, accountability and encouragement. The life of an Ambassador is a living demonstration of the principals and standards established in the Seven Promises.

Role of An Ambassador

The Ambassador is a volunteer position within Promise Keepers’ Men’s Ministry strategy who is responsible for making primary contact with churches and the men’s ministry leaders (and/or pastors). As a representative of Promise Keepers, he will develop working relationships with churches and men's ministries. The ambassador serves as a vital resource of information for men’s ministries in his community.

The Responsibilities of An Ambassador

  • He introduces Promise Keepers to churches in his community

The Ambassador shares the heart and mission of Promise Keepers with churches in his community. He encourages churches to develop and support men’s ministry.

  • He develops relationships with Men’s Ministry leaders and/or Pastors

The Ambassador pursues relationships with the appointed men's ministry leader and/or pastors through regular contacts. The Ambassador is the first line of support for the men's ministry leader (and/or pastor), encouraging him in the development of vital men's ministry.

  • He promotes unity within the body of Christ

The Ambassador is committed to promoting the values of the Seven Promises to individuals and churches. The Ambassador is committed to building bridges of unity in circumstances where denominations or ethnicity have divided believers. The Ambassador works with his network of churches to build church-to-church relationships to promote unity within the body of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).

  • He pursues partnerships with other Ambassadors

The Ambassador networks with other Ambassadors to reach the churches in their communities. The Ambassador works closely with the local men’s ministry leaders (and/or pastors) and members of other Para-church ministries that share the same vision as Promise Keepers to provide a unified effort in coordinating training, seminars and other local men’s ministry events.

  • He serves pre/post conference events

Promise Keepers requests that Ambassadors both attend and serve at national conferences. There are three primary conference responsibilities:

a. To serve men's ministry leaders (and/or pastors) of churches in the community by maximizing their experience through sharing effectively the vision of Promise Keepers and giving his personal testimonty.

b. To help with the Ambassador (Men’s Ministry) Booth in order to help others understand the role of the Ambassador ministry, answering questions and helping start the qualification process.

c. To assist with the follow-up strategy for the men who come forward at the conference altar call, committing their lives to Christ in their churches and communities.

  • Additional responsibilities

The Ambassador will work with a number churches in his community emphasizing meaningful interaction with the churches contacted. The Ambassador reports on his progress and status of the men’s ministry development in his churches on a website report. The Ambassador is responsible for promoting regional Promise Keeper events.

The Ambassador’s Relationship with Promise Keepers

Ambassadors must have a recommendation from his pastor and will be approved by his Promise Keepers Men’s Ministry Director. The Men’s Ministry Director reserves the right to remove any man from this position. If an Ambassador were ever to compromise the integrity of the ministry, he agrees that he would discontinue his role as an Ambassador and notify his pastor and the Men’s Ministry Director’s office in writing.

Ambassador Training and Resources

Promise Keepers is in the process of developing new training and resources to better equip the Ambassador to perform his responsibilities. More information regarding training and resources will be made available soon.
