What is the origin of the name Promise Keepers?

In Christ, God kept all the promises that He made to mankind; and our name - Promise Keepers - comes from that covenant-keeping nature of the Father.  As the psalmist says: "The Lord is faithful to all His promises..."  And since God was the first promise keeper, He is faithful to help us keep our promises.
