City Transformation
Dear Friends:
In Acts 19 we read that the “People of the Way” (Christians) turned the city upside down with the message of Jesus - so much so that a near riot occurred because the makers of idols were going out of business! I believe we can see our cities transformed in the same way.
The Need:
Massive city transformation is deeply needed. In short, our cities are a mess. Pornography, homelessness, abortions, teen pregnancies, family disintegration, drug and alcohol abuse, and gang violence are just some of the issues producing a global nightmare. Here are a few sobering statistics:
- 50% - 60% of Christian men are addicted to pornography; 85% of men 18-30 years have this addiction
- 90% of teens raised in the church leave the church upon graduating from high school
- 18.3% of children under the age of 18 and 9.9% of seniors 65 and older live in poverty
- 26% of teenage girls 14-19 have at least one sexually transmitted disease
- 1 in 3 adolescent girls is a victim of interpersonal violence
Beginning in 2010, we’re coming to cities with experienced ministry partners and a powerful “A Time to Honor” message that was honed at our Boulder, Colorado event. Our goal is to ignite and unite the efforts of pastors to affect Godly transformation.
The Plan:
Building on our successes at our 2009 Boulder event, PK is going to cities to transform men into spiritual warriors who will change their world. We’re a catalytic ministry that IGNITES & UNITES - it’s our calling and we are uniquely qualified with 20 years of experience!
We’re not going to “blow in and blow out” of cities. Our dynamic, proven, strategic partners will stay to provide the hands-on follow-up programs necessary to keep the spiritual fire PK catalyzes moving forward for complete transformation. Some of our partners will include:
- Vision 360: An evangelical, multi/non-denominational ministry that supports church planters
- Aglow International: Transformed men and women together provide the nucleus for family transformation
- The Dream Center: A powerful, proven Adopt-A-Block program that combines practical community service with church relationship building
- The Urban Alternative: Tony Evans’ proven strategy for transforming students, parents, schools and school districts through Adopt-A-School programs
- Awana: National youth ministry that is effectively stemming the 90% drop out rate among churched youth. Of those in grades 4, 5, and 6 who complete Awana’s program, over 92% remain in the church as adults and 50% go on to serve in ministry.
We are looking forward eagerly to taking our vision of men transformed worldwide to the next level of city transformation. Keep watching for the roll out of our 2010 cities and for additional ministry partners!
