In ‘On the Edge with Ken Harrison,’ Legendary Singer and Actor Pat Boone Shares His Take on the Shocking and Scandalous Performances at the 2021 Grammys

April 1, 2021By PK ManagerNews

“We’ve got to act like we have something to confront the darkness with because we do, it’s Jesus, the Word, and our own morals. Christians have to resist this behavior, take a stand, and not accept this perversion anymore.” – Pat Boone

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ken Harrison is joined by legendary singer, composer, actor, and writer Pat Boone on the latest episode of “On the Edge with Ken Harrison.” Together they discuss Boone’s rise to fame, his take on the shocking and scandalous performances at the 2021 Grammys, and how Christians can push back on the perversion that is being widely accepted as “culture”.

Highlights of Boone’s interview in the podcast include (edited for clarity):

Harrison: “The recent Grammy Awards stunned me. I knew our country was in bad shape, but when I saw the performance of WAP, I couldn’t comprehend how America had become so depraved and perverse. You’ve been at the top of the entertainment world for so long, when you see something like this, what are your thoughts?”

Boone: “Well, it’s hard. It makes me heartsick. It’s unbelievable. They do these things and the general public goes for it, at the least some put up with it. The producers, and even organizations like the NBA and the NFL, put up with all of these things because they’re trying to appeal to a younger audience. They think to appeal to a younger audience, they’ve got to appeal to the gutter, because that’s what so much of the music is.

We’ve let the culture be so dumbed down and corrupted and now we’re giving awards for this type of performance. Unfortunately, so many of the rappers, some of whom actually are Christian people, come out and they’re doing stuff that’s filled with expletives and filthy words, but when they win an award they say, ‘I want to thank my Lord and Savior’ and they’re wearing a cross. I can almost hear Jesus say, ‘Look, I had nothing to do with that. Don’t thank me for that. I had nothing to do whatsoever.’ I mean, it is such a perverse, corrupt thing and it’s being widely accepted as culture.”

Harrison: “What do we do about it as a culture, and more specifically, what should Christians do about it? At what point do we get involved in culture and start to say enough is enough?”

Boone: “Well, first of all, we should turn off the TV. If we have young people at home, we need to let them know that we are not going to watch filth, they can’t watch it. We can also do things that most people don’t think are effective. For example, we can write letters to sponsors letting them know that we don’t agree with what they are portraying on TV. I have done it myself. The bottom line is we’ve got to be more vocal. We have to resist. We are supposed to write songs about being earthen vessels because we are filled with his spirit and living by his word. We’re earthen vessels and we’re supposed to be light. He specifically says ‘You’re the light of the world.’ It is our job to be this light. We’ve got to act like we have something to confront the darkness with because we do, it’s Jesus, the Word and our own morals. We have to take a stand and act like we’re not going to accept this anymore. And we have the power literally. Our God will work with us and he will give us the power. I know because I’ve done it. I and other entertainers have been able to get certain shows kicked off the air because their sponsors quit on them. For the TV networks, social media, etc. we have to let our voices be heard and we’ve got to speak out because if we don’t it is going to keep burying us.”

In ‘On the Edge with Ken Harrison,’ Billy Hallowell Talks Ghosts, Demons, and Exorcisms

March 25, 2021By PK ManagerNews

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ken Harrison is joined by journalist, commentator, and digital TV host Billy Hallowell on the latest episode of “On the Edge with Ken Harrison.” Together they discuss pop culture’s obsession with the demonic, what the Bible says about possession, and why American evangelicals feel uncomfortable confronting the issue of demons, even when the Bible tells us their existence is undeniable.

Highlights of Hallowell’s interview in the podcast include:

What is possession and can a Christian be possessed?

“When we talk about full-on possession, it’s similar to what we see in Hollywood. Now, I’m not going to say that Hollywood accurately depicts it, but it’s like what you see in a movie where a person is completely overtaken in a way where their body is being controlled internally by demons. We see this throughout scripture, especially in the New Testament, when Jesus performs healings on people who have been overtaken, as well as the presence of demons that try to kill people.

Possession is rare, but it happens. Oppression is more common. It’s when a type of evil is preying on your life in some way—when evil is present in your life. As I did my research, every single person said that a believer cannot be possessed. But, some said a Christian can be oppressed.”

Breaking down the cultural obsession with the demonic and what it means for the church:

“We know that since the beginning of time, people have claimed to have had demonic experiences and we curiously want to understand it better. There’s a reason Hollywood sells a lot of movies about demonic possession because people are fascinated by it.

It’s fun to be scared and to watch a scary movie about it, but to actually talk it through and then to say if this is real, which we believe it is, what does that mean for culture? What does that mean for our lives? What is the impact of this? These are the important questions that right now the church is trying to figure out what their place is in the chaos.

I did a survey asking church leaders of all types, not just pastors, if they believe in demons and if demons can impact people and culture. The vast majority of responses said yes. But, when we asked the leaders a follow-up question, is your church and/or leadership talking about this enough, the majority said no.

This was really interesting to see. I think we have a real responsibility and a real moment to talk about, not to obsess over these issues, but to talk about them in a healthy way and to start those conversations.”

Is the Ouija board a harmless game or is it something more?

“Not every single person using the Ouija board will walk away with some sort of demonic issue in their life, but a lot of people will walk away with an opening that can lead to having a demonic issue.

As I was researching the history of the Ouija board, I noticed that it changed hands in the beginning once it was created, but there was a guy, William Fuld, who bought the board and he not only bought the rights to the board, he built a factory. Now, the way the story goes is that he built the factory based on the board, telling him to do so. So he makes this new factory and his obituary in 1929, which you can find in The New York Times, talks about his death. He fell from the top of the factory and died. Now, this doesn’t prove anything about the Ouija board, but there are all of these little crumbs of the history of the board that are very bizarre and verifiable. Today, it’s a tool that people are using to try to do the things that we’re told not to do in scripture, so at its very baseline, it’s something that we should avoid.”

What Luis Palau Taught Promise Keepers about Evangelism

March 16, 2021By PK ManagerNews

This article appeared as a column in the Christian Post.

Introduction by Ken Harrison, Chairman of Promise Keepers

On Friday, we received the news that Dr. Luis Palau, celebrated evangelist and longtime friend of Promise Keepers, had passed to his eternal reward. Luis spoke for Promise Keepers in stadiums across the width and breadth of our country. He reminded Promise Keepers that the life of integrity for a Christian man includes a commitment to sharing the Good News of the Gospel with the lost. Today, due in no small measure to his influence, the men of Promise Keepers are praying for a massive revival and transformation in our nation by 2025.

In the 1990s, Promise Keepers published a landmark book, Seven Promises of a Promise Keeper, to explain what it meant to be a Promise Keeper. Of course, Luis Palau wrote the chapter on the Great Commission. His words are as powerful and relevant now as they were then. I’m sharing them in the prayer that together, we’ll recommit to evangelizing our world just as Luis committed to evangelizing the world.

Here, then, are the words of encouragement to the men of Promise Keepers by Luis Palau:

“Lord, I promise to help fulfill the Great Commission in my world for Your glory.

“It’s a gutsy commitment to make, no question about it. It’s not one to make lightly, flippantly or without counting the cost.

“We men should lead the way — in our families, our churches and our communities. I can think of no greater thrill than obeying the Lord in this area of personal involvement in and commitment to evangelism.

“God is calling you to be a Promise Keeper, a man of integrity. You know that. But have you grasped that the Lord is calling you to be a godly man who — as much as anything else — is committed to influencing his family, friends, neighbors, work associates, countrymen, and others around the world for Jesus Christ? Incredible? Idealistic? Impossible? Listen to what the Lord Jesus said:

‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matt. 28:18–20)’

“‘Well, Luis,’ you may say, ‘I agree, the Lord does want us to help fulfill His Great Commission in our generation. It’s just that, um, I suspect He’s thinking more of using you than using me. After all, I certainly don’t have the gift of evangelism.’

“I don’t see anything in the Great Commission about gifting or talent or ability or personality or even opportunity. The Lord is clear: ‘You . . . and you . . . and you, I’m calling all of you men to go, make disciples.’

“It’s not a matter of gift; it’s a matter of heart.

“What I’ve found is that the great “fishers of men” (Matt. 4:19) over the years all have shared 10 distinctives that gave them a tremendous heart for the world. Both Scripture and church history speak to the importance of these distinctives that should shape every Christian man’s heart and life:

• Passion for those apart from Christ

• Christ-centered message

• Holiness in every area of life

• Vision to reach the great cities

• Boldness to try new methods

• Willingness to endure criticism

• Commitment to a local church

• Love for the whole body of Christ

• Sacrificial financial giving

• Seriousness about private prayer

• Faithfulness to the end

“Sounds like a Promise Keeper, doesn’t it?

“Almost all of us get nervous about witnessing. At least I do, even after all these years. But when we willingly obey the Lord, He uses us.

“Today, before another hour goes by, let’s look to the Lord and say, ‘Yes, I am willing to help fulfill Your Great Commission.’ That’s prerequisite to all else. Unless we’re willing to say yes to the Lord in every area, there’s no use pretending we’re a Promise Keeper in any area of life, wouldn’t you agree?

“Next, let’s begin to take pride in the good news of Jesus Christ. Like the apostle Paul, let’s affirm, ‘I am not ashamed of the gospel.’ Why? ‘Because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes’ (Rom. 1:16).

“It’s sick what pride the world takes in its debauchery and sin. As Promise Keepers, shouldn’t we be all the more proud of the liberating, life-changing gospel of Christ?

“What is the gospel? It’s “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve,” and then to the five hundred” (1 Cor. 15:3–6).

“Are we proud enough to share this good news with others?

“Next, let’s gain a better understanding of those outside Christ. To me, the word that best describes our society today is confusion. According to the latest Gallup polls, an astounding eight out of 10 Americans claim to be Christians. But ask the average American to define what he or she means and you’ll be in for a surprise. Here are some of the most popular myths about what makes someone a Christian:

• Being born in America

• Thinking positively

• Living a good life

• Attending church

• Giving to others

• Receiving a sacrament

• Believing in God

• Talking about Jesus

• Praying

• Reading the Bible

“Those are all good things, but they’re not good enough! Let’s take God at His Word and not believe everything men tell us. Just because someone says he is a Christian doesn’t mean he’s right.

“Our task is urgent. To finish it, we must have the authority of God that comes from a holy life. Paul told Timothy, ‘God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline’ (2 Tim. 1:7). I like to think of that as holy boldness.

The unfinished task of winning the world to Christ is enormous. Promise Keeper, let’s press on to finish the task set before us.”

In ‘On the Edge with Ken Harrison,’ Steve Arterburn Reveals How Porn Damages Marriages, How to Break Porn Addiction and Why Wives Should NOT Remain Silent

March 11, 2021By PK ManagerNews

“Sometimes you have to disturb the peace to make peace. The strategy to keep your husband’s addiction and actions quiet, such as to not reach out for help when he beats you, is a problem. That’s keeping the status quo, and we know that God does not honor peacekeepers; He honors peacemakers.” — Steve Arterburn

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ken Harrison is joined by best-selling author, radio host, and pastor Steve Arterburn on the latest episode of “On the Edge with Ken Harrison.” Together they discuss how pornography addicts men, how it creates a supernatural bond that leads men to hate their wives, and why women covering for their husbands and concealing their problems makes things worse. In addition, Arterburn shares his own story of the connection between pornography in his own life.

Highlights of Arterburn’s interview (edited for clarity) in the podcast include:

Ken Harrison: “Many men become stuck in the cycle of pornography addiction. It begins at a young age with inappropriate images and grows into a gripping addiction, eroding values, self-esteem, and relationships along the way. How does this affect the relationship between husbands and wives and how does a man begin to find healing?”

Steve Arterburn: “When a guy is bonding with pornography, it takes the place of the bond we experience within sexual relationships in a marriage. For example, there is the presence of oxytocin, a hormone that similarly bonds us to our wives. A bond with pornography is not just an attraction, but rather an attachment. In turn, your wife becomes a threat to this bond, so it becomes confusing why you can’t stand her anymore. In fact, some really develop a hatred toward their wives because of this new supernatural bond they’ve created with porn. This is one of the reasons why you can’t undo this addiction on your own. You don’t have the power. You have to get away from pornography and start the recovery process.

With the help of other people in the power of the Holy Spirit, you will win and be victorious, but you won’t reach this if you continue to try to recover on your own. Join a recovery program that requires humility, honesty, and the support of other men in similar positions.”

Ken Harrison: “After our recent Marriage Summit, we received letters from women with a similar narrative. These women shared that their husbands are respected in the church, but they’ve got a pornography problem. Most of the time, they’re decent guys, but sometimes they’ll fly off the handle and beat them or scream Bible verses at them about submitting because the wives don’t want to engage in the perverse world that their husbands live in. These women ask who will help them and who will do something about their current situation. What would you tell them?”

Steve Arterburn: “Sometimes you have to disturb the peace to make peace. The strategy to keep your husband’s addiction and actions quiet, such as to not reach out for help when he beats you, is a problem. That’s keeping the status quo, and we know that God does not honor peacekeepers; he honors peacemakers. When a woman says, ‘Well, I don’t want to destroy his reputation in the church’ or whatever, then you’re choosing passivity.

You are enabling evil to exist in your home. So, this is why I say we’ve got to deal with you first. We’ve got to either get the courage within ourselves, or we have to bring people around us. With two or three women together, a wife might be able to make the decision. But, keeping it secret and living in your shame and silence will not help end the cycle.

It takes the woman being willing to speak up for any of this to change. You would not only save yourself, but you would save other women who would hear what you did, and then they would step forward and have the courage to no longer let a man under the guise of Christianity, faith or godliness, abuse another woman. Jesus did not abuse women. He honored women. Any man that’s doing anything other than honor his wife has no place in church leadership. They’re not following Christ — they’re following themselves.”

Ken Harrison: “You were a Christian. You were going to a Christian college as a well-respected guy. But, you had a secret habit of looking at pornography, which led you to get a girl pregnant. Horrifyingly, you were instrumental in her having an abortion and you suffer the consequences of that choice. Many need to know that you can be a Christian, have a really big screw-up and still be used incredibly by the Lord. Is there anybody who’s too evil to get saved? What if someone’s listening and they’ve killed somebody, or they’ve been with prostitutes and drugs — are any of those people excluded from being saved?”

Steve Arterburn: “No. I killed someone and I’m absolutely convinced that I’m going to go to heaven. We can mess up, and we can be the worst of the worst, but we can all be saved through repentance and submitting to God. Having worked with Prison Fellowship, I know of the stories of people who committed the most heinous crimes. People on death row have turned their life over to Christ, and they’re experiencing a new kind of life. You are not beyond the grace and mercy of God and Christ. One of the greatest truths in the Bible is that God is rich in mercy. That’s because God is love. He loves you so much that his mercy is there for you and through his Son, you can be saved no matter what you’ve done. He still loves you, just like you would love a child no matter what they did.”

In ‘On the Edge with Ken Harrison,’ James Robison Shares His Story of Overcoming Fatherlessness and How He Became a Sought-after Televangelist Who Shares God’s Vision for His Church

February 11, 2021By PK ManagerNews

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ken Harrison is joined by powerhouse evangelist James Robison on the latest episode of “On the Edge with Ken Harrison.” Together they discuss Robison’s story of overcoming fatherlessness, the religious and political divide among Christians, and how the divide can be unified through the people’s embrace of Biblical principles, not political candidates or parties.

Highlights of Robison’s interview in the podcast include:

“I think one of the things that we all agree on is that fatherlessness is one of the things that’s driving today’s dismissal of Biblical principles. You kind of have the ultimate fatherlessness story. You were conceived in rape and you almost shot your dad, at 12 years old, with your new hunting rifle when he came back to exploit your mother. Tell us how you became the guy who’s selling out football stadiums and having 60,000 people come to watch you as a very young man. How do you go from no dad to being so useful in the kingdom of God?”

“I was living with a pastor and his wife when God called me to preach. They certainly made beautiful deposits in my life. I think somehow God had a plan for me from the time I was born. My father, God, really did adopt me and I began to get to know him. As I did, I got to know his heart and I began to share it effectively. If you’ve seen ‘God’s Not Dead’, I had that same effect in two different universities. I was a freshman speaking to the whole student body – it had never happened before. I mean, God just used somebody who fell in love with Jesus and loved the people he died for. I understood the heart of our father. God blesses everything that we do because as imperfect as I might have been and we all are, what I really wanted was his will.”

“How do Christians take leadership, when a lot of us feel like there are two sides? There’s division among us – the Christians who voted for President Joe Biden and the other side who voted for Donald Trump. As we see the current administration opening the doors for abortion, transgenderdism, and homosexuality – how do we, as Christians, behave?”

“We know that if people are defending something that is totally against freedom, against God’s word, and against principles, that we know aren’t only biblically, but historically confirmed, that the violation of these principles brings consequences that are undeniable and so often catastrophic. So, we keep pointing to the importance of this principle. You don’t make fun of somebody who says have same-sex attraction. You don’t make fun of somebody who can’t seem to control their appetite. You don’t make fun of somebody that has a battle with lust. You don’t make fun of people who are weak or defeated. You keep trying to show them, here’s what God says is best. Here’s what God chose as right. You’re never going to help a person overcome an out of control appetite or gluttony by making fun of them. You’ve got to be their best friend because they’re not necessarily evil – something has a grip on them. Everybody is distracted by evil. Nearly everyone is too often defeated by evil, but not everyone is dedicated and sold out to evil. Once you get deceived to the point that you buy the lie and begin to promote the lie, you are then changing God’s truth into a lie. You will redefine gender. You will redefine marriage. You will redefine sex. You will redefine the basic moral practices.”

What does unity in our church and, consequently, our nation look like when Biblical principles are at the forefront and not political candidates or parties?

“I don’t endorse candidates, parties or any particular person’s point of view. I endorse the principles that are confirmed historically and that are 100% in line with biblical truth. The church is the only influence on this earth that can lead all these people who really want the best… If the church will stand up suited up in Jesus, every member will come together in supernatural unity. His glory, his grace, his mercy, his power, and his principles will not fail us when they are in place, including the forgiveness that he freely offers, the restoration he offers, and the direction he offers. He will open our blind eyes and give us vision and clarity to his fruitfulness and blessings beyond measure. Then we will become the shining city on a hill that’s impossible to hide and I’m telling you, that’s the invitation he’s giving us today.”

In ‘On the Edge with Ken Harrison,’ The Real-Life Indiana Jones, Bob Cornuke, Shares His Adventures of Biblical Archaeology and The Upcoming Hollywood Film That Portrays His Life

February 4, 2021By PK ManagerNews

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ken Harrison is joined by Biblical investigator, international explorer, and bestselling author Bob Cornuke on the latest episode of “On the Edge with Ken Harrison.” Together they discuss different interpretations of Biblical word, Cornuke’s daughter’s diagnosis of Lyme’s disease, and the power behind showing an absent father mercy.

Highlights of Cornuke’s interview in the podcast include:

His daughter, Shannon, was diagnosed with Lyme’s disease after a tick bite in Louisiana.
“My daughter, Shannon, spoke at a church where we had to literally carry her up on stage and she said, ‘I wouldn’t give this up for the world’ and the whole place got quiet. She said, ‘I wouldn’t get rid of this disease for the world because people are calling me and writing to me, and now I’m a witness for them.’ There was a girl that was going to commit suicide, but Shannon talked to her and now she is seeking treatment. She’s going through the treatment with the sick and getting healed because there is hope for those that have Lyme disease. There’s a power of prayer. And there’s also the power of wisdom that God has given people to use their talents and in a great way.”
“My daughter said, ‘If I didn’t have this illness, I wouldn’t have this witness.’ We have to look at things through the right lens of God. Sometimes he puts us through these horrible things so that we can be a witness for him in a more powerful way. My daughter had the wisdom to see that. And there’s a difference between wisdom and knowledge because knowledge is in Matthew 11:25, it says, ‘Oh, father, lord of Heaven on Earth, thank you for hiding the truth for those who think themselves wise and clever and for revealing to the childlike.’ Not the childish, childish is nonsensical. Childlike is when we have total faith, like the faith that your father is going to catch you when you jump off the bunk bed. You just jump. That’s a childlike faith. We need to have a childlike faith in God that whatever happens, for example, whoever gets COVID-19, whoever gets this sickness (Lyme’s disease), or any other thing that happens to them, God has a plan and a purpose – that’s wisdom.”

Cornuke forgave his abusive and absent father, as God forgives us for our wrongdoings.

“I was talking to my dad in the hospital when the doctor said he had two to six months to live from his cancer. He turned white as a ghost, and he asked me why I look for Noah’s Ark and why I study the Bible. Growing up, every other word from my father was a swear word. I have scars on my body and my heart from him getting drunk and smacking me around. I said to him, ‘Dad, you’re either on the ark or off the ark. God tells us we’re either in or out, we’re with him or against him.’ He told me, ‘I’ve had such a bad life. I can’t. I can’t even think about asking God to do that with me. I’m so ashamed of my life.’”

“I said, ‘Dad, we’re all we’re all filthy.’ You know, Ken, if you knew what God knew about me, you wouldn’t have me here in front of this microphone and if I knew what God knew about you, I wouldn’t have come here. We’re all sinners. My dad grabbed my hand and he cried out, ‘Jesus, Jesus’ and he begged for forgiveness. I started crying because of all the scars on my body and my heart and I said, ‘I’ve got to forgive this guy, who am I that Jesus died?’ So he accepts Christ and I have this forgiveness moment with him. And my brother comes and says, ‘What’s going on?’ and I said, ‘Dad just accepted Christ.’ My dad’s face changed with all the tears. He had lines from cigarettes and drinking and they all just went away. His whole face changed. He was born again. The Bible says at that moment that you see Christ in your heart, you’re born again, and you’re on the ark. Then that next night I came home and the phone rang. It was my mother and she said ‘They just put a sheet over your father’s face, he’s dead.’ And I had the biggest smile on my face. Not because he was dead, but because he was alive, he was with Christ for all eternity.”

On differing interpretations of Biblical word:

“There are a lot of people that have differing agendas of the Bible. For instance, scholarship rests on three legs. Scholars want to be published. They want to have prestige and they want to be promoted. If you take any one of those legs, their stool will fall over. In Oregon, there are university professors there that if they say there was a flood, as the Bible tells us, they’re not going to get promoted, they’re not going to get published, and they’re not going to get prestige because 99% or 98% of all scholastic people claim to have a non-Christian fundamental viewpoint. Maybe it’s 96% or so, but it’s a high amount that are secular. So their careers are pretty much over if they start espousing that. Even Christian people teaching in Christian universities today are waffling on scripture being true from start to finish, which I believe it is. I believe the Bible is prophetically, contextually, and historically accurate. I think the Bible is God’s revelation of himself – to man God’s the author. Salvation is the truth without any mixture of errors. I believe the Bible is the supreme standard by which we live. It’s the gold standard in history, the sole source of truth. I’ve never found anything in all my archaeological searches that says the Bible counters this narrative. But, we have to remember to take the narrative with the intent of it’s authors. Over history, there have been individuals who let their agendas dictate what the Bible says.”

Virtual Men’s Marriage Summit Combines Expert Insights with App-Based Community to Build Strong Marriages in Stressful Times

February 4, 2021By PK ManagerNews, Promise Keepers Event

The completely free two-hour online Marriage Summit is just the beginning. Through the free Promise Keepers App, men can take daily steps to build a better marriage.

COVID-19 has had a profound impact on marriages in America—but pundits can’t agree on what that effect is. As W. Bradford Wilcox noted in “The Good and Bad News about Marriage in the Time of COVID, “The popular takes on marriage in the time of COVID-19 run all over the map. COVID-19 is straining American families. No, maybe it’s making them stronger. Divorce rates in America are soaring, says the Daily Mail, while The New York Post says, no, divorce rates are falling.”

Couples are stressed out, and while some are seeking divorce, others are experiencing, in the words of the American Family Survey, increased appreciation of their spouses and deepened commitment to their marriages. The Promise Keepers (PK) Virtual Men’s Marriage Summit is designed to provide men with the insight, encouragement, and skills they need, whether to build a stronger, more satisfying marriage, or revive a marriage that is stagnating or even in trouble.
The fourth promise of a Promise Keeper is a commitment to build strong marriages and families through love, protection, and biblical values. With this in mind, PK has created a 3-Week Marriage Challenge which uses free the Promise Keepers app to help men take practical daily steps to build the skills of a strong marriage. Any man, anywhere, at any time, can join the challenge through the app.
Ken Harrison, chairman of PK, observed:

“PK is known for assembling amazing communicators to inspire and motivate men to be godly husbands. But just as there is more to becoming a good pilot than watching an inspiring video on an F-22 Raptor, there is more to becoming a good husband than being inspired by an encouraging talk. Anything important takes will and skill. Marriage is no different.

“That’s why I’m excited about PK’s new 3-Week Challenge in the free Promise Keepers app. First, men are made for action, and the 3-Week Challenge gives men something to do every day to build not only knowledge, but skill through practice. Second, men are made for community, and through the app, men can encourage each other along the way.”

The challenge includes:

  • Daily scriptures, activities and weekly challenges including leaderboards and gamification
  • Additional resources, videos, and practical application from marriage experts
  • Small, virtual groups of fellow men with discussion-based forums
  • 21 Day Prayer Guide

Here’s what men are saying about the 3-Week Marriage Challenge:

  • “Loving Day 1 – Challenge accepted!”
  • “My wife needed me during painful times. I wasn’t there for her. Didn’t realize until today through Rick Burgess’ story how lonely and scared she must have been.”
  • “Day 3 – Wow this is a toe stepping article. So true. I need to be better about this.”
  • “This is so good. Just what I needed.”
  • “Wish I had heard this a long time ago!”
  • On Day 6: “Small things add up to big successes!”

The 3-Week Marriage Challenge was designed as a follow-up to the PK Virtual Marriage Summit, a free, fast-paced two-hour experience designed to provide information and inspiration just for men. It’s available on demand on Facebook and YouTube.

  • Dr. Gary Chapman, counselor and author of The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts, which has been a New York Times bestseller for 10 years running.

In ‘On the Edge with Ken Harrison,’ Steve Farrar Shares How His Personal Experience with Depression Lead Him to Become a Champion of Men’s Ministry

January 21, 2021By PK ManagerNews

COLORADO SPRINGS — Ken Harrison, CEO of WaterStone and volunteer chairman of Promise Keepers, is joined by Steve Farrar on the latest episode of “On the Edge with Ken Harrison.” Together they discuss the downheartedness of depression, experiencing God’s loving discipline, and how to build spiritual muscle.

The podcast, available in both audio and video form, can be found on Apple, Spotify, and YouTube. Podcast listeners can also receive a challenging weekly devotional that will inspire them to put their faith into action.

Steve Farrar, known for his candor, his humor, and his commitment, is a fierce advocate for his mission to equip men to be the spiritual leaders of their homes and churches. He earned his doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary and he has pastored several churches. In 1990 he founded Men’s Leadership Ministries and has been speaking to men around the world ever since.
Farrar has spoken at hundreds of men’s conferences and events, and has authored 20 books for men, including the bestseller, Point Man. For twenty years he has taught a weekly Men’s Bible study in Dallas that is attended by several hundred men and it is continually updated on-line.
Additionally, Farrar serves on Promise Keepers’ Pastoral Advisory Board.

Highlights of Farrar’s interview in the podcast include:

We can find comfort knowing that God will never abandon us in our darkest valleys.

“God puts us in the wilderness where we can’t see any way out and even if everybody’s wilderness looks different, we can all reflect on this feeling. Maybe you’ve lost your reputation, your marriage, or your money, and you feel that you’re stuck with no way to recover. But, Psalm 23:4 tells us, ‘Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.’ As Martyn Lloyd-Jones recalled, every valley and every wilderness has a beginning, middle, and an end. You may not be able to see it at the time, but God is not going to leave you in that position forever.”

“It is important to pray for a teachable heart in these moments because we don’t want to miss what God is trying to teach us in these valleys. When I was experiencing my depression, I would pray to God, ‘Lord, don’t let me miss what you are teaching me. I don’t want to flunk this class. I don’t want to have to go back to summer school three years later. I want to learn, Lord. Would you show me what you have for me?’”

God’s discipline upon us yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.

“If you are listening to this podcast and you know you are in the toughest place you’ve ever been, know that the Lord is with you, even if it’s because of your own sin. Our Lord is sovereign and he is shaping you. He will discipline you, as we know from Hebrews 12 – ‘If you’ve never been disciplined by the Lord you’re not a child of God.’ Every son that he loves is disciplined and although being disciplined is not fun, it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”

God uses our setbacks to build spiritual muscle and it is our responsibility to take this newfound wisdom to aid others on similar journeys.

“God uses our setbacks to build spiritual muscle. Sometimes we get fatigued and worn down and we don’t know if we can make it. I remember during my depression I wouldn’t ask God to help me get through the day – I would ask him to help me make it to lunch. I would seek him and his guidance to get through the next hours without falling apart. I had never been like this in my life before, but it was exactly what I needed. God put me in his gymnasium and he was working me out.”

“It is important to note I didn’t talk about my experience with depression for a while because I was embarrassed that I went through it… I recommend that for anyone struggling with depression that we love them, disciple them, and help them figure out their gifts. We need to let them know how God made them and encourage them to get on their way.”

Promise Keepers Virtual Marriage Summit Returns Favorite Speakers Gary Rosberg, Crawford Loritts, Samuel Rodriguez, Dan Seaborn and Brad Stine to the Promise Keepers Stage

January 21, 2021By PK ManagerNews

The completely free 2-hour online Marriage Summit on Jan. 23 brings together the most trusted voices with emerging authorities to empower men to build strong marriages in stressful times.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — Promise Keepers (PK) was the greatest men’s movement in modern times. In the 1990’s, seven million men stood up to be faithful to Christ. As Dr. Jack Hayford said at one stadium event, “We’ve come to stand together, hearing the call of God from the eternal Word and scriptures that there would be a man who would stand in the gap.” Those men kneeled, shoulder to shoulder, across racial and denominational barriers, praying to God in confession and brokenness, and crying out to Him for forgiveness and victory. Then they stood up, determined to be men of integrity in their marriages, their families, their churches, and their communities.

During that era, men learned the secrets of leading a thriving, God-honoring home from a host of powerful communicators — secrets that were diametrically opposed to the political correctness of the culture.

In a pandemic-shaped world of 2021, men need these secrets more than ever. Not every marriage is in distress, but every marriage could be better, and it’s the responsibility of men to be the thermostat and not the thermometer.

To empower men to build strong marriages in stressful times, Promise Keepers is launching two timely initiatives in January and February that bring back marriage experts Gary Rosberg, Crawford Loritts, Samuel Rodriguez, Brad Stine, and Dan Seaborn to impact a whole new generation of men.

Initiative 1: Promise Keepers’ First Online Marriage Summit for Men

The PK Marriage Summit, a completely free and fast-paced 2-hour experience, is designed to benefit all men, whether they are married, engaged, single, or divorced. Men can participate in

the Marriage Summit in groups at church, home, base, or dorm or as individuals online on Jan. 23.

Speakers drawn from PK alumni include:

● Dr. Gary Rosberg, co-founder of the international ministry, “America’s Family Coaches,” and bestselling author with wife Barb of multiple books and videos on marriage and family with nearly one million in print.

● Crawford Loritts, pastor of Fellowship Bible Church, board member for CRU, Family Life, and Chick-fil-A Inc, and author of Your Marriage Today…And Tomorrow

● Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), author of From Survive to Thrive and Promise Keepers board member

● Dan Seaborn, founder of Winning At Home, Inc. and leader for the Marriage & Family Division of the American Association of Christian Counselors. His goal is to provide practical, biblical insight into marriage and family issues.

● Brad Stine, known as the man that revolutionized and launched the new era of Christian comedy in America. Brad’s comedy allows him to be a missionary to America, bringing the gospel in unique ways to influence the cultural narrative.

Joining the alumni for the marriage summit will be:

● Dr. Gary Chapman, counselor and author of The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts, which has been a New York Times bestseller for 10 years running.

● John Bevere, co-founder of Messenger International and bestselling author. Over 40 million copies of his resources have been given away worldwide.

● Jimmy Evans, founder and CEO of MarriageToday, a ministry and nationally syndicated television program devoted to helping couples thrive in strong and fulfilling marriages and families.

● Al Robertson, entrepreneur featured with father, Phil, on “Duck Dynasty.” Married for over 30 years, his is the story of rescued love in the face of an impending divorce.

● Rick Burgess, co-host of “The Rick and Bubba Show,” bestselling author, co-founder with wife Sherri of Burgess Ministries and founder of “The Man Church”

● Jonathan Evans, serves with his father, Dr. Tony Evans, both in the local church and the national ministry. He is the chaplain of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks.

● Sen. James Lankford, United States Senator serving Oklahoma, chairman of Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management Subcommittee, and Promise Keepers board member.

● Ken Harrison, chairman of Promise Keepers, host of the “On the Edge” podcast and author of Rise of the Servant Kings: What the Bible Says About Being a Man

Themes include:

● How to reconnect with your partner

● How to resolve conflict

● Positive communication

● Sex and romance

● Emotional intimacy

● The power of praying for your marriage and spouse

● Sexual integrity

Promise Keepers’ Chairman Ken Harrison said,

“Christian men today are yearning to be, as my friend Mark Batterson says, famous in their own homes. As men, we were made to lead — and to serve. When a man steps into God’s high calling, he keeps his promises and those around him get cared for and nurtured. Real men never do anything for our own gain, but we will swim in shark-infested waters for those who are counting on us.”

“The PK Virtual Marriage Summit will inform and inspire men as never before to cherish their wives and families, to be unshakeable in their commitment to making the world around them a better place, and to keep their promises no matter what.”

Initiative 2: The Promise Keepers’ Marriage Challenge

The Virtual Men’s Marriage Summit kicks off a 3-week challenge that will place you side by side virtually with other men as you build up your marriages in a concrete way. Any man, anywhere, at any time, can join the challenge through the Promise Keepers app.

The challenge will be lead on the Promise Keepers’ app and will include:

● Daily scriptures, activities and weekly challenges including leaderboards and gamification

● Video and written content, including additional resources from marriage experts

● Small, virtual groups of fellow men based upon geographic location or stage of marriage

● 21 Day Prayer Guide

ABOUT PROMISE KEEPERS

Founded in 1990 by Coach Bill McCartney, Promise Keepers is one of the biggest movements of God in the history of the Church. Focused on helping men live with integrity. Promise Keepers touched the lives of seven million men through its national conferences. On October 4, 1997, over a million of these men gathered for Stand in the Gap: A Sacred Assembly of Men in the National Mall in the District of Columbia to take a stand for Christ.

Today, we’re on the move again. More than ever, America needs a revival of godly men. Our nation faces problems that can only be overcome when men of integrity — promise keeping men — fulfill their destinies as godly husbands, fathers, and leaders.

On July 16-17, 2021, 80,000 men are expected to gather from across America and around the world at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, for its annual stadium event. To register for the event or to learn more, visit promisekeepersevent.com.
