Communications Group Leader (Communications Captain)

Purpose: To gain local print/radio/TV media attention and press coverage in the conference city before and during the Promise Keepers event, working in coordination with the PK Field Representative. Represent PK to the local media with excellence and integrity. To recruit the four(4) volunteer team members and provide leadership on-site to execute and carry out assignments for the Communications Group (Photographer, Videographer) during the PK Conference. Ensure that every church within your sphere of influence actively partner in sending men to the conference.

Reports to: PK Communications Manager

Works closely with: Conference Volunteer Coordinator, Conference Volunteer Leadership Team, Communications Team

Special Qualifications/Preferred Profile:

  • Seasoned Christian with spiritual leadership qualities
  • Connected in local area with media networks (radio, newspaper, local news stations)
  • Associated in broadcast network – media, press releases, radio (Christian and secular)
  • Marketing experience preferred
  • Outgoing, engaging, self-starting

Pre-Conference Responsibilities:

  • Carefully select your 2 Photographers and 2 Videographers (they need to provide their own equipment)
  • Receive information for the team and train with the PK Communications Manager
  • Maintain relationships and communicate with team leading up to event
  • Assist the PK Field representative as needed/directed with media relations and engagement
  • Gather a list of 10-15 media outlets and forward to the PK Communications Manager at least two(2) months prior to conference

Conference Responsibilities:

  • Assume leadership responsibility for Communication Group on-site, giving direction to the Photographer and Videographer
  • Work together with the PK Communications Manager and PK Field Representative to communicate any needed media updates
  • Provide leadership and act pro-actively for team and media assignments to be carried out
  • Be readily available on-site during conference times
